Jane McCall appointed to GVRS Board
by Gov. Kemp

On August 25, 2022, Gov. Brian Kemp swore in Jane Gaines McCall as the newest member of the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Services Board during a special ceremony in the governor's office.  Jane has served on several boards including the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, Spring Valley Health Center Nursing Home Board, Elbert County Board of Education School Council, and currently serves on the Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc. board of directors.  She obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Emmanuel College and the University of Georgia.  Jane is retired from the Elbert County School System where she taught inclusion students on a regular basis and was honored as Blackwell Elementary Teacher of The Year.  She was also named Mother of the Year by her fellow Elbert Countians.  Jane volunteers one day each week to help a friend at Shepherd Center in Atlanta and assists her husband, former longtime state legislator Tom McCall, with his duties as president of the Georgia Farm Bureau.  They have three grown children including their very special son, Bud, who lived to be 15 years old, many years longer than predicted by his physicians.  Tom and Jane reside five days each week in Macon, where Tom’s office is located.  When they are not traveling for work, they enjoy spending time at their farm in Elbert County.

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) was formed on July 1, 2012, by an act of the Georgia General Assembly as a result of Representative Tom McCall drafting bill 1146 with the goal of the organization becoming a stand-alone agency.  GVRA (gvs.georgia.gov) operates five integrated and interdependent statutory programs that share a primary goal - to help people with disabilities to become fully productive members of society by achieving independence and meaningful employment.  The largest of the programs are Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program, Disability Adjudication Services, and the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation.  Two other unique programs serve consumers with visual impairments: the Business Enterprise Program and Georgia Industries for the Blind.
